The Match Brave NAM A2 Pack seeks to recreate the sound of one of the rarest Matchless amps you’ve probably never played—the Matchless Brave. Think of it as a “Matchless Plexi”: a unique circuit that blends classic British crunch with Matchless signature sparkle and headroom.
We captured every variation we could get out of this special amp:
The Lo input offers massive headroom and crystal-clear, pure tone—perfect for huge 100-watt Plexi-style cleans or running your favorite pedal preamp / always-on overdrive. Captured with both Bright and Regular EQ settings.
We also ran an EF86 preamp through the Lo input to create a “Channel 2” option that doesn’t exist on the original amp. This gives you a Vox-like voice that still sits perfectly with the rest of the amp’s character.
The Hi Input is the star of the show, delivering the most recognizable Plexi-inspired tones while retaining that unmistakable Matchless high-end sparkle and chime.
